- Have an RV – maybe that goes without saying, but if you’re very new to the prospect of RVing and you’re just on the cusp of purchasing your very first rig, well, WE CAN HELP!
- Before setting off, it is important to do a 360 inspection and check for any issues that could have arisen while in your RV was in storage. This includes any servicing, repair and maintenance needs.
- Summerizing your rig, cleaning and restocking the safety and emergency items you will need for your adventures.
- Research, research, research! Research the places you want to go, find cool day excursions, activities, sightseeing spots as well as places you may want to dine at or visit.
- Try booking campsites as far in advance as possible to score the best spots with all the hookups you require.
- Plan for RV friendly routes that can facilitate your parking, gas fill-ups and waste disposal needs.
- Stock up on those safety and emergency items like maps, first-aid kits, flashlights and weather-related items (umbrellas, tarps, rain jackets).
- Create a budget and know where to cut costs like preparing your own meals.
- Plan what to bring in advance. Bring all the basics and what will make you comfortable. You want your time to feel enjoyable and like a home away from home experience.
- Be flexible and have a back-up plan. Sometimes things don’t always quite work out as planned, but that’s ok! It’s part of the adventure, even if its delays due to the weather. Bring board games!
- Recruit support from the RV community through travel apps and RV fan groups. Many seasoned RVers are happy to share their wealth of knowledge when it comes to RV travel.
- Make lists and lots of them!
There’s a reason why so many people join the RV world. If you can get all your ducks in a row through pre-planning and preparation, you set yourself up for a stress-free and enjoyable experience that beckons you through the years.
Go make those memories!
